The plan will honor the history and contribution of Detroit’s Asian community.
July 2025 (7/26 - 7/27)
We need volunteers for event planning and contacts for:
Sparked by the July 29, 2023, demolition of the iconic 140-year-old building at 3143 Cass Avenue, the historic home of the Chinese Merchants Association and the mass meeting that resulted in the founding of American Citizens for Justice (ACJ), we are a committee to co-create the re-birth of Detroit’s Chinatown into a Pan-Asian neighborhood.
The Detroit Chinatown Vision Committee is a volunteer initiative devoted to developing a Pan-Asian vision for Detroit’s historic Chinatown neighborhood and its surrounding blocks. The plan will honor the history and contribution of Detroit’s Asian community by developing a new community in the heart of a district that provides the amenities a thriving neighborhood requires.
Our community will welcome people of all backgrounds who can come together, host events, grow, and flourish. It will be made of residences, businesses, and other services to create a safe and walkable environment.
